I contributed to the Title V operating permit renewal for a client’s industrial facility. The project aimed to demonstrate the facility’s continued compliance with federal and state air quality regulations while updating emissions data and operational information to reflect current conditions.
My role combined technical, organizational, and leadership responsibilities to support the successful completion of the permit application:
Permit Review and Data Gathering: Reviewed the existing Title V permit to identify sections requiring revision and gathered updated process and operational data from the client to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Team Leadership: Led a team of interns to cross-check, verify, and organize large datasets related to emissions sources and process parameters, ensuring internal consistency and alignment with regulatory reporting standards.
Collaboration with Senior Engineers: Worked closely with senior engineers to interpret complex regulatory language, incorporate client feedback, and maintain clarity and precision throughout the documentation process.
Technical Documentation and Analysis:
Contributed to drafting key sections of the permit application, including narrative text, process descriptions, and site diagrams.
Assisted in performing and organizing emission point calculations for the Emission Inventory Questionnaire (EIQ) using standardized methodologies and data validation practices.
Compliance and Submission: Ensured all materials met state environmental agency requirements and supported the final review and timely submission of the permit renewal package well before the existing permit’s expiration.
The completed Title V permit renewal was submitted ahead of schedule, maintaining the facility’s regulatory compliance and enabling continued safe and lawful operation. The project strengthened my capabilities in environmental permitting, air emissions analysis, regulatory documentation, and team coordination, reinforcing my technical and leadership growth within the field of chemical and environmental engineering.
